Vision levels
There are 3 different vision levels that apply to blind sport internationally. Australia has a fourth category. Details of these are shown below:
B1 - Totally Blind
These are players who have no sight at all. To ensure fairness an occlusion device i fitted to the eyes to ensure all players are totally blind.
B2 - Partially Sighted
These are players with partial sight, on the Snellen eye system of testing they see less than o equal to 1/60. This means that for a fully sighted person being able to see 60 metres, the blind bowler can only see 1 metre.
B3 - Partially Blind
These players have the best sight for international competition. They are all still legally blind, but fall somewhere between 1/60 and 6/60.
B4 - Partially
These players have the best sight and are not legally blind and not accepted in all sports. Eyesight is somewhere between 6/60 and 6/24.
