Transport
VISACT encourages al players and officials to make their own way to events and functions hosted by VISACT. Organisaing committees within VISACT are aware of the difficulties people with a vvision impairment face when travelling and we are conscious to ensure ou events are planned at venues which are accessible.
However from time to time this is not possible.
With this in mind, we have researchjed a number of tranport options

CBD
VISACT's transport sponsor CBD Chauferred Cars offers all members a 10% on fares to and from events. CBD also accepts cab charge and discount vouchers.
Trips
In addition a service in the ACT known as TRIPS can assist. To access TRIPS you must be registered. Contacts TRIPS on: 02 6251 2100.
TRIPS is a consortium of five not-for-profit community service organisations in the ACT - Belconnen, Gungahlin, Tuggeranong, Weston and Woden Community Services, provides TripsACT transport service.
Trips ACT provides transport for individuals living in the ACT to attend social and educational activities which take place outside of normal business hours. Transport can be provided to people who are frail aged and their carers, individuals with a disability and their carers, for:
- Visits to hospitals and nursing homes
- Weekend outings
- Attending activity centres
- Attending cinemas/clubs/theatres
- Attending education facilities
- Shopping
- Social activities
Volunteer drivers provide transport and fees do apply.

Each individual will have to register by ringing the above number. A fee of $5.00 applies and this covers your return journey. TRIPS will require 2 days notice and can only provide one trip a week. Please contact them after 5:00pm.
Belconnen Community Transport
The Community Transport and Volunteer program provides a range of services to residents of the Belconnen region when there are no other options available. These services include:
- Transport to medical, paramedical and other essential appointments.
- Assisted shopping to local shopping centres or the Belconnen markets.
- Social support that incorporates collection of medical supplies and x-rays.
- Community transport is available for the frail aged and people with a disability who do not have access to transport for medical, paramedical and other essential appointments.
The program is funded through ACT Home and Community Care to assist people to live in the community and prolong moving into a residential care facility.
Volunteers are also able to provide friendly visits to clients who are isolated due to mobility and health issues or have no family or friends close by and also assist clients with shopping.
What does it cost?
When receiving Community Transport, Assisted Shopping and Assisted Social Support there is a $3.00 fee for each day the service is received.

Woden Community Transport
Community Transport provides clients with access to services such as medical appointments, day care and therapeutic groups.
Operated by an experienced and qualified support worker with the assistance of volunteers, Community Transport is available for clients who meet the National HACC guidelines and are unable to access any other forms of transport.
The Community Transport program is free and operates from 8.30am to 4.30pm Monday to Friday.
